PUBSLUSH Press, a full service publisher dedicated to giving aspiring authors a new way to get published, is giving select winners the chance to join them on an all expense paid trip to Kenya. Winners will accompany PUBSLUSH on their book drop to the Flying Kites Library in Njabini Kenya to help combat children’s illiteracy, a fight PUBSLUSH is committed to win.
For a chance to win the trip, entrants must register at www.pubslush.com and follow the steps to support book ideas they would like to be published. One lucky sponsor from each of the books selected for publishing will win. PUBSLUSH has adopted the crowdsourced-funding model of Kickstarter — once a book reaches 2,000 unique supporters, it is published. Support amounts range between $10 (also gets you an e-book) and $500 (gets you a dedication in the front of the book, an eBook, as well as a printed version of the book.).
Winners of the contest will not only get the chance to support aspiring authors and join PUBSLUSH in its fight against worldwide illiteracy, but they will also experience the trip of a lifetime. Valued at $2,000, the prize includes transportation, lodging and meals for the duration of the visit to Kenya. All other costs will be the responsibility of the winner.
The PUBSLUSH Foundation is dedicated to impacting education initiatives by providing books, relevant resources, and logistical support to children worldwide. Through the Giving Partner Contest, a one-for-one book donation program, and collaborations with local partnerships, PUBSLUSH will positively affect literacy rates, thereby facilitating sustainable change to combat the vicious cycle of illiteracy and poverty.
“The lack of literature available, especially to the younger generation, is so clearly a defining contributor to ongoing poverty and war,” said Jesse Potash, founder of PUBSLUSH Press. “The imminent need to aid children’s literacy initiatives was at the forefront of the conversation while developing the idea for PUBSLUSH, and having been an avid fan of TOMS Shoes, the one for one strategy seemed like an incredible way to bring the concept full circle.”
The Giving Partner Contest is open to all registered PUBSLUSH users in the United States over the age of 18. Winners will be announced within two weeks following the book being selected for publication.
About PUBSLUSH Press
Inspired by the industry term, “the slush pile” (where unsolicited manuscripts are set aside), PUBSLUSH Press is a full service, publishing platform that utilizes social media to bring together writers and readers, providing an innovative forum for discovering new writing talent. Writers upload a sample of their work and Slushers (registered users) review, share, and fund their favorite submissions. Once the required funding is achieved, PUBSLUSH facilitates the complete publishing process – or a deal is a made with another publisher prior to that.
