2009 ends on a high as retailers turn to VoucherCodes.com to bring discounts to savvy shoppers

House of Fraser, Next and Sainsbury’s have already posted big profits following a rush of sales activity during the last couple of weeks of the year. Debenhams, Tesco and HMV scheduled to report numbers later this week and experts are already predicting good results.

James Carter, managing director of VoucherCodes.com says: “The strong sales figures can be attributed to a number of things, including the threat of the VAT increase and a rise in consumer confidence. However, 2009 really was the first year when retailers began discounting early – well in advance of the traditional post-Christmas period.
