Valley Modular Manufacturer Marks Completion of Landmark San Francisco Project
San Francisco, California (May 5, 2010) – Today JTS Modular, Inc. of Bakersfield
announced the completion of the 10,500 square foot modular transit terminal for
Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) in downtown San Francisco. As the intermodal hub for the San Francisco Bay Area Regional Transportation Network, the Transbay Terminal will house multiple transportation modes and move thousands of passengers an hour.
A custom manufacturer of Commercial, Municipal, and Educational modular buildings, JTS Modular, Inc. recently constructed the terminal building at their Bakersfield plant and delivered it in sections to downtown San Francisco, where it was reconnected on site. The entire project, considered to be a very intricate and complex job by construction officials, took less then 6 months to complete and install.
Original plans for this project called for the building to be constructed on the downtown site located abound by Main, Folsom, Howard and Beale Streets. Officials opted for the modular solution provided by JTS Modular, Inc. based on the time savings, considerable cost reduction, and equal or better construction quality to site built. Prior to selecting JTS Modular, Inc. project officials looked at previous complex projects completed by JTS Modular, Inc. such as the 10,000 square foot security terminal at the Fresno Yosemite International Airport.
The Transbay Transit Terminal, which is close to the Bay Bridge, is a part of an
estimated $4.1 billion landmark project. The TJPA, who is responsible for putting this project together, is described as “consisting of a historic collaboration of Bay Area government and transportation agencies committed to replacing the current Transbay Terminal in San Francisco with the new Transbay Transit Center to improve the transportation needs for the Bay Area region and the entire State.”
