US behind other countries in terms of Sex education
While we perceive men in US to be the most knowledgeable having complete know- how when it comes to sex, the reality is far different from this misconception.
Research and experts all around the globe are meticulously working on the way and the approach that they carry towards sex and the need for sexual health. This study however inferred a shocking truth that US still lacks the understanding and awareness.
The hurry- hassle attitude is the probable reason for all the problems and issues that the country is experiencing and undergoing. The problems include Teenage birth rates, abortion rates etc in US. The US has been the country with such an increased number of teenage birth rates and abortion rates.
The teen pregnancy rate is three times higher than even countries like France and Germany. Also it is four times higher than that of countries like Netherlands. Also the teen birth rate in US is eight times higher than that of Netherlands. With five times higher birth rate than France and four times higher than that of Germany, the picture seems so apparent. Speaking about the abortion rate, it is two times more than that of Germany and 1.5 times more as compared to Netherlands. Besides this it has been observed that the STD (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) rate has been higher in US as compared to the other countries. The most obvious example is the US being prone to HIV six times higher than that of Germany.
What has been responsible for this whale of problem? Is it the increasing exposure to unnecessary things or the decrease in the prominence of education? It is necessary to study and have an introspection regarding this situation. Awareness should be in terms of including this subject in schools as a compulsory subject where sex is highlighted in the right way. Also it is necessary that parents maintain harmonious relationship with their children and guide them whenever necessary. Also the Government policies have a significant role to play.
