TRAID recycled clothing charity and eco style site -conscience.com launch new -forward, collection

TRAIDremade Boutique is a unique and exciting new fashion collaboration between fashion site Fashion-conscience.com and the charity TRAID.  The exclusive eco fashion collection will feature bespoke, limited edition pieces inspired by the latest fashion trends fresh off the catwalk.  Brand new lines will be introduced every few weeks, only available to Fashion-conscience.com customers. The concept replicates the fast-fashion culture adopted by high street stores except this project is 100% sustainable fashion.

Fashion-conscience.com’s Director, Lianne Ludlow, always has an eye on the emerging themes on the international catwalks and creatively directs the designers at TRAIDremade.  Donated clothing, end of fabric rolls and vintage hardware will be utilised to create beautiful new pieces, added to the continuously updated ethical fashion collections.  This compresses the time it takes for key looks to get from the catwalk and into Fashion-conscience.com shoppers’ hands. Touches of Balmain are reflected in the first autumn collection of recycled clothing which includes tough leather jackets and pencil skirts, bodycon dresses, lace and zip detailing, soft oversized jersey, chunky knitted snoods and accentuated shoulders.

This collaboration is Fashion-conscience.com’s stylish contribution to DEFRA’s Sustainable Clothing Action Plan launched in February this year by DEFRA Minister Lord Hunt, and supported by the companies such as Oxfam and Marks & Spencer, that aims to lower the impact and levels of waste clothing in the UK. The clothing and textiles sector in the UK alone produces around 3.1 million tonnes of CO2, 2 million tonnes of waste and 70 million tonnes of waste water per year – with 1.5 million tonnes of unwanted clothing ultimately ending up in landfill.

Most designs are available in UK 8-16 and prices start from an extremely affordable £20.  Never before has ethical fashion been so stylish and fashion-forward.

Notes to editors:
*Fashion-conscience.com sources ethical fashion and eco-friendly clothing from all over the world and brings customers the latest news in fashion and environmental issues.  Director, Lianne Ludlow, formed the site in 2007 and strives to find, and now create, the best in fashionable, affordable and luxury ethical fashion.

*TRAID stands for Textile Recycling for Aid and International Development.  By raising money through their high street stores the charity aims to protect the environment and reduce world poverty.   By utilising donated and fabrics and making the pieces in Brighton, TRAIDremade (TRAID’s own recycled clothing label) are also able to minimise their carbon footprint. The TRAIDremade Boutique will offer a higher-end fashion collection more responsive to the catwalk trends than TRAID’s own street-inspired collection.
