Lee Mill, Devon – With summer upon us and temperatures soaring into the 30’s it is hardly a surprise that the normally strong sales of saucy “bedroom boots” made famous by the Kinky Boots film have toppled from their heady heights.

But Devon-based online and mail order lingerie company Wickedelic Lingerie has noticed a new trend emerging from the ashes as customer service manager Nik Grant explains: “Sales of boots have fallen considerably but they’ve been replaced by a big surge in the sales of kinky shoes instead.”

Checking out the shelves in the Wickedelic Lingerie warehouse tells the whole tale, with row upon row of shoes which are in no way designed to be everyday wear as Nik continues: “We sell a large range of shoes which are mostly worn in the bedroom, out clubbing, for fancy dress, pole dancing or extravagant dressing up. High, high heels and platforms, shiny materials and vivid colours in sizes from 3 to 12 feature large in the range.”

At this point the penny drops and the linkage to the Kinky Boots theme becomes apparent – sizes up to 12 can only mean one thing, these shoes are meant for walking but a lot of that walking is surely being done by men as Nik is quick to confess: “It has to be said that our biggest customer base for our Wickedelic Lingerie range of shoes are indeed men – crossdressers just love the sheer exuberance of the range.”

So there you have it – kinky shoes are in this summer – especially if you are a man!
