Evergreen, CO – October 15, 2009 – Newly formed Tropical Storm 22W in the Western Pacific may threaten Luzon, Philippines mid-week next week. The Swinden Group, through their Severe Weather Advisories, is advising interests in Luzon, Philippines to be prepared for another typhoon that may bring flooding rains and damaging winds.

At 1500 UTC, the center of Tropical Storm 22W was located 220 nautical miles northeast of Yap Island and is tracking westward. It will enter into an environment that will enable the storm to strengthen over the next couple of days.

“Computer models has the storm tracking towards Luzon, Philippines next week and could come dangerously close or even strike Luzon by mid-week,” explains Matthew Swinden, President of the Swinden Group. The Swinden Group provides weather risk management services to organizations and individuals though their Severe Weather Advisories.

While it is too early to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ if the storm will affect Luzon, it is best to be prepared for the worst case scenario, which would be for the storm to strike Luzon or a near miss. In any event, the region will be drenched by heavy rains which may trigger additional flooding and mudslides to an already devastated region of the Philippines. At this time, we are in a ‘wait and see’ as to what the storm will do over the next couple of day.

Severe Weather Advisories is a subscription based service provided by the Swinden Group to corporations and business travelers so that they are prepared for severe weather that may negatively impact business and travel.

The Swinden Group provides companies and organizations security, investigations, and risk management services worldwide.
