The Apartments at Coolidge School Hold Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Historical Event Held On June 11th, 2009
Watertown, MA – June 11th, 2009 – The Apartments at Coolidge School, an active adult community 55+, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today marking the complete construction of the project. Invited guests and residents enjoyed tours of the building and the apartments, acknowledgements from the developer, Bart Mitchell, remarks by Public Officials from the Town of Watertown and State of Massachusetts, and also dined on lunch from a local restaurant, the Uncommon Ground. Residents and a former student at The Coolidge School also said a few words to the crowd. Renovations to the building started in March 2008.
“There are so many people to thank for helping to make this happen,” said Bart Mitchell, Developer and President of Mitchell Properties. “Without the help and support from each one of you, The Coolidge School would not be what it is today. We are extremely proud of this project, and it has far exceeded our expectations.”
The 1915 brick schoolhouse, originally by designed by Clarence P. Hoyt and Curtis W. Bixby in Classical Revival style, has been fully restored and renovated inside and out. With only 38 residences, The Apartments at Coolidge School represents a special opportunity for active adults to live in an intimate, comfortable community. The apartments feature 9+ foot ceilings, oversized windows, Energy Star insulation and appliances, granite countertops, hardwood floors, in-home washer and dryer, and walk-in closets. Parking is available for all residents, along with available guest parking.
The Apartments at Coolidge School also boasts common area amenities including a fitness center, inviting library with fireplace and wireless internet, common kitchen, and restored auditorium for community events. The history of this property and the careful renovation undertaken of the historic exterior and interior common areas has led the Massachusetts Historic Commission to select this property to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Apartments at Coolidge School, located at 319 Arlington Street, Watertown MA, has been developed by Mitchell Properties, designed by The Architectural Team Inc. with interiors by Prellwitz Chilinski, has been constructed by CWC Builders, and is managed by HallKeen Management.
