Supreme Systems Begins Drive to combat Small Business IT Misconceptions

September 15, 2009 | Author: | Posted in Advertising

“There are many misconceptions regarding outsourced IT held by small business” says Steve Palmer, Technical Services Director, Supreme Systems. “We recently conducted a survey of 500 small businesses within the West Midlands area to find out how they currently managed their IT – we were truly surprised at our findings”. “59% of respondents rely on staff with no official IT role to sort out daily computing problems; 25% relied on family members or friends and 6% had no IT support at all while 10% of respondents outsourced their IT needs to an external IT provider”. “When we asked those respondents without IT support what stopped them from using external suppliers, a staggering 85% believed that outsourcing their IT would prove to be too expensive. Other reasons given included a lack of trust in allowing an external provider access to their systems; a reduction in accountability and loss of control”.
“Many small businesses still see outsourcing their IT as expensive – this we believe is due to the lack of information available to small businesses as to how the outsourcing process works” says Angela Hart, Client Services Manager at Supreme Systems. “Small businesses deal in facts and figures, and we realized that in order to convince them that outsourcing their IT was a viable option, we had to learn to speak their language”. “We introduced a system of cost benefit analysis which allowed businesses to see for themselves how business efficiency could be improved for very little outlay; the risks associated with trusting their IT to non IT professionals and also demonstrating how poorly managed IT systems actually stunted the growth of their business”. “We were able to demonstrate that properly deployed IT solutions would actually save them money, improve business efficiency and add to their bottom line”.
The seminars seek to address these misconceptions by empowering small businesses with enough information to help them make better buying decisions when it comes to their IT. “We discuss the pros and cons of choosing an external IT provider” says Mina Cookey, Training Provider, Supreme Systems. We discuss what to look for when choosing an IT services supplier; we break down the real costs of not having an IT support supplier – things like not having proper data backup procedures, security issues, virus threats and reduction in productivity”. “We demonstrated to businesses that for as little as £0.26p per day, they could have the peace of mind that their IT is being well looked after.
Supreme Systems Ltd is an IT services provider, providing bespoke IT services for small businesses throughout West Midlands. Other Supreme Systems services include Web Design, Software Design and IT Training.
The seminars are being held in locations throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands. For further information please contact Angela Hart at Supreme Systems on 0121 212 0604 or visit our website at www.supremesystems.co.uk
