Sunbelt Business Brokers Agent Len Washko has been named the President of the Board of Directors at Can Do Canines, a Minnesota charitable organization whose mission is “enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities by creating mutually beneficial partnerships with specially trained dogs.” Len has served on the Board of Directors of Can Do Canines for 5 years, taking various leadership roles including Development Committee Chair, Annual Tails of Independence Luncheon Chairman, and Treasurer.
In 2010, Can Do Canines trained and matched 30 assistance dogs with clients, through five programs: Hearing Assist Dogs, Mobility Assist Dogs, Diabetes Assist Dogs, Seizure Assist Dogs and Autism Assist Dogs. The organization, formerly known as Hearing & Service Dogs of Minnesota, is based in New Hope.
Sunbelt Managing Director Chris Jones noted, “Len’s colleagues at Sunbelt cheered this news. Our culture is very supportive of our members’ assistance to the community, and many of our brokers have attended Can Do Canines fundraising events. The Directors have made a great choice in leadership for their Board.”
Can Do Canines has a more than 20 year history or training and matching dogs with disabled and hard of hearing persons, and others with special conditions for whom specially trained dogs may provide assistance. More information on its programs can be found at www.can-do-canines.org
