STUFF U SELL’S EBAY TRADING SOARS AS UK ECONOMY FEELS THE PINCH

Stuff U Sell, the UK’s leading eBay trading assistant, announced Half-Year Gross Sales of £454k for the six months to April, up 73% on the same period last year, bringing total sales to £1.67m since the company was founded in 2004. The company reports that this growth has come from significant increases in both buyer and seller activity, driven by the economic downturn at the end of last year.
“Demand for our service has never been stronger – we are fielding so many calls from sellers that we are hiring four new members of staff this month alone,” says Operations Manager Edward Doegar, “And the buyers are all clamouring for a bargain. In the ladies designer clothing category, for example, we are seeing more competitive last-minute bidding, and like-for-like items have seen prices soar up to 70%.”
eBay is the UK’s largest online marketplace, attracting 16 million unique users each month and with over 17 million listings live on the UK site. Competition for sales is high, and the effort and expertise put into producing and marketing an auction is key to getting a good price. Stuff U Sell’s approach is to do the basics flawlessly (studio photography, search optimisation and writing compelling descriptions) but also to devise and research sales strategies for each item – using the breadth of eBay formats and techniques. Their research shows this pays off with reported sales prices higher than the market average across a wide range of categories – in fashion, for example, a Marc Jacobs Tote handbag sold for £255 – 30% higher than the average eBay price of £196.32; in technology, a Dell PowerEdge Server sold for £120 – 78% higher than the average eBay price of £67.40.
It is no surprise that both individuals and businesses are flocking to Stuff U Sell for both their experience and hassle-free approach to getting items sold. “Whether it is the fashionistas funding this season’s purchases with last season’s cast-offs, people downsizing and clearing out, or businesses liquidating slow-moving stock , everyone appreciates the ease with which they can release cash using Stuff U Sell,” says Fraser Pearce, Director. “We pick-up, do the work, pay all the eBay and Paypal fees and send a cheque. Since we work on commission, our incentives are completely aligned with the seller’s goals.”
