MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Students will have the opportunity to engage in a spirited television-style educational program this year as “Quassy Quiz Show Mania” debuts at Quassy Amusement Park here.

“This will be a fun, thought-provoking program that will allow students to interact as participants as well as an audience,” said George Frantzis II, a co-owner of the 102-year-old property. “We have invested in a top-of-the-line integrated quiz show system and students of any grade level can participate.”

“Quassy Quiz Show Mania,” announced today by the park, will incorporate a professional host to produce each segment of the program.

“We are doing this the right way from top to bottom,” added Eric Anderson, Quassy co-owner. “Shows will be produced for elementary, middle and high school students with questions relevant to grade curriculum and culture.”

“Based on our past experiences with this type of presentation, it’s not only fun to compete but also to watch,” Frantzis added. “The interaction – be it one class or an entire school – becomes extremely engaging as the show progresses and the finalists step behind the podiums.”

“Quassy Quiz Show Mania” will be available this spring for schools on park fieldtrips, after prom and graduation parties, Middle School Madness Days, and Elementary School Spring Spectacular Days. Schools may call Quassy at 203-758-2913 for show and prize pricing.

New Free Physics Program

Quassy Amusement Park sponsors numerous free educational programs at the park. New this year is “Fun With Physics,” a booklet filled with experiments and activities. The 38-page project was completed with the assistance of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT).

The accredited booklet is designed for students to work as individuals or in teams as they conduct experiments and make observations using the amusement rides in the park.

“Commotion About Motion” is Quassy’s popular guided physics tour for schools on a tight schedule and there is also a guided “History Tour.”

Quassy’s “Wacky Science” stage presentation has been a hit among elementary and middle school visitors as park staff whip together some liquid ingredients with fascinating results.

Art In The Park, the annual chalk art competition on Quassy’s walkways, takes place May 16. Registration is currently under way for teams in elementary, middle and high school divisions.

Quassy’s Roller Coaster Model Contest returns on June 6 with divisions for all grade levels.

Entries for the Fourth Annual Student Photo Essay Contest are currently being accepted. Digital cameras will be provided as prizes for winning school or individual student photo essays.

Other educational programs include journalism and photography workshops at the park, “Ready To Read” This Summer Program, an annual school music festival and a scavenger hunt.

Reservations for or more information about the educational programs may be obtained by calling the park office.
