STATEWIDE FOOD ALLERGY SUPPORT GROUP DONATES CANDY FOR AMERICAN SOLDIERS
Arizona Food Allergy Alliance (AFAA) partners with Operation Gratitude to increase candy donations.
November 1, 2011. PHOENIX, ARIZONA— Lisa Horne today announced that Arizona Food Allergy Alliance has partnered with Operation Gratitude for a great program called AFAA’s Sweets for Soldiers. Any unwanted or leftover candy can be donated to participating dentists around the state. The dentists will weigh-in your candy and in-return give you cash, gift cards, or other goodies. Dentists then send all donated candy to Operation Gratitude, which sends it to our soldiers serving around the world.
President and Founder of Arizona Food Allergy Alliance, Lisa Horne, says, “For the 6 million U.S. children that have a food allergy, many of them have life-threatening reactions. Typically the children will come home only for all the unsafe candy to be dumped in the garbage. This is not only a safe alternative to keeping allergens out of the home, but helps a great cause as well”. Horne’s own brother served a tour of duty in Iraq, and is currently stationed in Ft. Lewis, Washington as a Fire Fighter and EMT.
