15th April 2012. Staffordshire, UK. Just in time for the London Olympic Games in July, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) are issuing nearly 1800 personalised number plates, some of which will have an Olympic theme! The new releases will include such gems as; GO11 DEN, GB12 ROW and RUN 100M! the first two are only able to be placed on a car registered in or after the year on the number plate, but RUN 100M is a different matter as this can be used on any car of any age.
The next DVLA personalised number plate auction is due to take place in London on 7th, 8th and 9th June 2012, it will be held at the London City Hall and the full list of registrations is due to be auctioned announced very soon. According to the London 2012 commercial director, Chris Townsend he has been quoted as saying; “I’m sure that this London 2012-themed range of personalised registration number plates will really strike a note with fans of the Games.”
As this special auction will be held in London, it may not be practical for interested buyers to there! However, this does not mean they have to miss out on this special number plate auction. This is because many of the UK’s DVLA registered number plate dealers such as Carreg.co.uk offer an auction attendance service for a flat fee they will visit the auction and bid on specific number plates for the consumer.
These services can work out well for the consumer, it costs around £250 but only if the dealer is successful in securing the buyers chosen number plate. Nevertheless, chances are that the dealer is going to get a better deal and the buyer has not had to take time away from work or spend out on travel either, so the savings are obvious from the start.
