Scotts Wright Solicitors Welcome Third Generation to Leyburn Office

Scotts Wright solicitors, who serve Hawes, Leyburn, Catterick and the surrounding areas, have welcomed Steven Scott to the firm.

The appointment represents the third generation of Scotts working as solicitors from Hawes and Leyburn, since Malcolm E Scott took over the practice in 1931.

Steven is joining his father, Ian C Scott, at the Leyburn office after five years working in Leeds & Bradford.

Ian C Scott said of his son’s return to the firm:

“It is a delight to have Steven back working at Leyburn enabling me to concentrate again on Probate and Wills”

“There is no doubt that working a city firm has given him a broader perspective”

Steven said of his return to the Yorkshire Dales:

“I’ve been eagerly looking forward to coming back to the Dales.

“I grew up in Wensley and it’s a fantastic area to live in. With a baby on the way, I want to give my own family the same chance to grow up in this beautiful place with such a great community.”

“More than that, it’s a privilege to sit behind the same desk as my Grandfather did, when he took over the practice in Leyburn in 1931. I’m glad the family practice has successfully negotiated its succession and will continue for many years to come.”

For the past 5 years, Steven has specialised in Commercial Property. He has acted for investment funds, pension funds, a national brewery chain, national retailers and house builders. He has experience dealing with a variety of property matters from sales and purchases, secured lending, Landlord & Tenant and development work.

Steven has recently acted for a Yorkshire house builder obtaining finance through the government’s “Get Britain Building Scheme” and exchanged contracts on a £20 million property deal before starting back with his family’s practice.

At Scotts Wright, Steven will be mainly working in property. He is ready to welcome clients at the Leyburn office from April.
