SACRED LANDS PRESERVATION AND EDUCATION ANNOUNCES A FUNDRAISING EVENT

The Third Annual Green Frog Moon Festival

Long before condominiums crowded Gulf Boulevard or concrete began to replace our Native Earth, the Tocobagan Indians called this place home. Sacred Lands Preservation and Education, Inc., a 501C (3) non-profit organization, is dedicated to preserving this rich, ancient land and teaching its historical, archaeological and spiritual lessons to coming generations lest the Tocobagans be forgotten.  Sacred Lands honors those generations of Native people unable to speak for themselves.

Sacred Lands preserves a site sacred to the Tocobagan people a Village Site/Temple Mound complex that was here when the Spanish explorer Narvaez made contact with them in 1528. Harold and Frances Anderson bought the land in the 1940’s, and since then the Anderson family has kept the property and preserved it for generations unborn.

In addition to honoring the past, Sacred Lands continues to provide a forum for concerned individuals and groups to learn about modern-day indigenous people from diverse cultures. Our mission is to educate visitors both through teaching seminars and the direct experience of celebrating spiritual realities through meditation and ceremony. In addition to spiritual and preservation activities, Sacred Lands hosts numerous celebrations; for example … coffeehouses, monthly circles and drum circles. The beautiful gardens are often the backdrop for weddings and birthday parties allowing countless visitors to enjoy the land drawn by its sacred allure

Maintaining and preserving property such as Sacred Lands requires more wherewithal than any single family can meet. For instance, the foundation cares for and feeds forty-five . The add their voices to the land’s presence, but it takes money and time to tend . To raise the needed money to keep Sacred Lands a living and an inspiring place to visit and to be a part of for the third year in a row we are hosting the Green Frog Moon Festival.

Please join us in this outdoor event.  The Third Annual Green Frog Moon Festival will be open 10am until 6pm, Saturday, March 13th and Sunday, March 14th. This is a Arts and Crafts festival with hourly raffles, silent art auction, food & includes many local musicians, spotlighting Native-American Flutist and storytellers. . Sacred Lands hosts a variety of programs and events many of which are here at the mound site which is the location of an ancient Tocobago village. Native American speakers are invited here to share their stories and information about their cultures and spirituality. We also have programs about the history of the land and Native Americans who lived here and invite archaeologists to speak about their understanding of Florida's first people. We have a special interest in the arts and music and on a regular basis have music and other entertainment on the grounds. At each event, there is an opportunity to tour the land and learn about its history here on Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida.
