MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – A roller coaster model contest for elementary, middle and high school teams returns to Quassy Amusement Park on Saturday, June 16. There is no fee for school teams to take part in the event, but pre-registration is required.
Accredited by the American Association of Physics Teachers, the contest has an established set of rules in the design and construction of the student models. Registration forms and the complete rules are availalbe on the Press Room page at Quassy dot com.
The noon event will be judged by a physics teacher and prizes awarded in all three categories.
In addition, world-renowned professional roller coaster model builder John Hunt from New York will be at Quassy during the competition with several of his models on display. He will also answer questions about his unique hobby.
Hunt is currently working on a model of Quassy's award-winning "Wooden Warrior" roller coaster and expects to have it completed in time for the June school event.
