Plustek In-Vehicle Recorder Drives Safety Standards

TELFORD, 5th October, 2009 – Plustek, a global image and communication solutions company, has been awarded the e13-mark by TÜV Rheinland. A product that displays the mark indicates that it complies with all the relevant regulations of a European nation.

EC directives and ECE regulations require all automobiles, motorcycles and their components imported to EU member states to be in conformance with a range of safety standards for drivers and the environment. This ensures that all automobile and motorcycle products sold by manufacturers and operated by users conform to basic safety and environmental standards. All products covered by regulatory controls must be tested, certified and display the appropriate mark. Products without an e13-mark can’t be sold or used in these member states.

Edward Hill, Business Development Manager, Plustek, said: “Safety has priority worldwide. Numerous norms apply to vehicles, systems and components―no matter whether it has to do with the Federal Motor Safety Standards (StVZO) in Germany or the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in America. For the sales of motor vehicles and their components, approvals according to the standards of the destination countries are essential. Achieving this e-mark allows Plustek to extend its presence in the European market for automobile products.”

Plustek’s NVR 4200V was certified with the e13-mark. The NVR 4200V is a mobile network video recorder specifically designed for public transit applications. Engineered to withstand the heavy vibrations generated by vehicles and temperature fluctuation, it is built for dependability, long life and low maintenance.

The NVR 4200V is the ideal choice for mobile surveillance in all types of public and commercial vehicles such as taxis, vans, buses, trains, trams, limousines and heavy goods vehicles because it can multiplex record up to four cameras at up to 60fps, while concurrently handling panic/system alarms, processing GPS positing data, transmitting positional co-ordinates via SMS and using intelligent power management.

Operating on a Linux framework, the NVR 4200V is less vulnerable to virus attack and offers much lower power consumption than PC-based surveillance solutions. The NVR 4200V records up to four channels in MJPEG format and provides several capturing options, such as alarm recording, schedule recording and manual recordings.

Note to Editors: Review samples of the NVR 4200V are available.
