DAB radio station Passion for the Planet, firmly rooted in reality, has now made its debut in the world of fiction.

Pick up a copy of Sarah Tucker’s new novel “The Control Freak Chronicles” and you’ll find that the heroine works for Passion for the Planet. The book also features the radio station’s co-founder Chantal Cooke.

Passion for the Planet was launched 7 years ago and broadcasts across London and the South on DAB radio and nationwide via the Internet. It is the UK’s leading group of radio stations focusing on health and environmental issues and playing music from all over the world.

In the book Sarah’s heroine Helena Treadwell works for Passion for the Planet as a presenter. The story follows her attempts to control her life while making a documentary about her home town, where Chantal Cooke is featured as one of the potential interviewees.

It’s a story about letting go of control, about how when one door closes another often opens and about falling in love when you least expect it.

“I chose my heroine in “Control Freak Chronicles” to work for a station called Passion for the Planet because she is a grounded and enthusiastic character, rather like the people behind the radio station in real life,” explained Sarah Tucker, best selling author of “The Playground Mafia” (short listed for the Good Housekeeping book of the year 2007) “The Battle For Big School”, “The Last Year Of Being Single”, “The Last Year Of Being Married”, “The Younger Man” and “Schools Out”.

“I love Sarah’s novels, so when she said she was a big fan of the station and would like to feature it in her latest book, I was thrilled,” said Passion for the Planet’s Managing Director Chantal Cooke “It’s not often you get the opportunity to be immortalised in fiction!”

Passion for the Planet is the first DAB radio station to be featured in a novel and shows how the station has entered the public’s psyche as a radio station that combines great entertainment with strong ethics and a clear and consistent brand.
