Pacific Child & Family Associates Announces Art Exhibit “Through My Eyes: Original Works of Art from Children with Autism”
FRESNO, Calif. – December 8, 2009 – Pacific Child & Family Associates’ (PCFA) Central Valley office announces their first student art exhibit, “Through My Eyes: Original Works of Art from Children with Autism,” to be held on December 12, 2009. All the art featured in the exhibit is by children who have or are currently receiving behavioral-support services from PCFA.
The exhibit is free to family, friends and the public and will be on display from 11:30 AM – 5 PM. There is a private reception for the artists and their families earlier in the day, from 10 – 11:30 AM. The exhibit will be held in PCFA’s Central Valley office, 2210 N. Weber Ave, Fresno, CA. The office serves families throughout the Central Valley including Fresno, Hanford, Merced, Visalia and others. Locally-based National Raisin Company and regional divisions of Hostess and Konica Minolta have helped make this exhibit possible.
“We are thrilled to be able to show some of the creativity children on the spectrum show when they have an opportunity to express themselves,” said Stefanie Finney, Clinical Director of Pacific Child & Family Associates Central Valley. “Additionally, with statistics showing one in 150 children are currently diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, we think this is a small way for us to help encourage and inform families. We’re hoping parents are aware of early intervention and other methods that are proven to help maximize the potential of their children and open up their opportunities.”
Pacific Child & Family Associates Central Valley is one of the agency’s 11 offices that are dedicated to providing the highest-quality services to children with developmental disabilities – particularly those along the autism spectrum. PCFA Central Valley works directly with families through the Visalia School District and Tri-West and the Central Valley Regional Center, among others. PCFA works with many families who speak another language in the home including Spanish, Hmong and American Sign Language.
