This children’s tale launched on-line through Twitter, Facebook, Myspace and You Tube along with supporting web sites represents a new approach in bringing a book to the market. The huge growth in the use of these social media sites offers new authors access to millions of users should they get it right. The idea of this release is to make the book available on-line through a series of releases between now and Christmas. The full text will have been made available by Christmas. At the end of the year though, only sample chapters will remain available on-line as the book moves to more mainstream publishing approaches. So take advantage now.

As for the story, well, Bernie is a young male cat who has been exported to Norway. He is destined to be an international show cat and stars in a national TV advertising campaign within weeks of arriving in Norway. But Bernie’s first show ends with disastrous consequences. Disqualified and no longer loved he decides to return to his original home in Scotland. What follows is a series of encounters and adventures each of which has the potential to take one of the pampered young cat’s nine lives as he heads for Scotland. The question is whether Bernie can make it home for Christmas with all nine lives intact.

The author clearly loves cats and the descriptions of the various cats in battle with foe such as vampires and werecats are extremely good. The opening battle with the current Norwegian show champion is fantastic

This wonderful tale should keep the attention of children from the age of 8 to 80 and more, particularly the cat lovers among you. The story is fresh and contemporary and appears to offer a number of opportunities for interested publishers including merchandising, film and perhaps even a computing game. Offering the story on line may be a gamble that might just pay off.
