Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide Supports PICO in Addressing Bank Foreclosure Crisis
The Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide (ŒCOCW) officially represented by Catholicos Scholarios-Gennadius III, OSB, Protosyncellus supported the efforts of Pacific Institute for Community Organization (PICO) in urging Congress to address the nationwide bank foreclosure crisis. This effort was partly accomplished through a mass signature collection campaign of religious leaders and members of America’s faith communities that will be delivered to Congress. These signatures will be delivered to Congress this Monday, December 14, 2009, during a meeting with members of the White House National Economic Council asking for official action on the banking system’s failure to act in good faith regarding mortgage modification under the Federal mortgage relief program. The ŒCOCW supports PICO’s moral and ethical activities to not only forestall families being evicted from their homes during this most Holy of seasons, but to also prevent bank officials exercising their egregious actions to deny holy families lodging at the proverbial “inns” during this Holy Season by evicting them and their loved ones from their homes.
