Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide views the image of young Trayvon’s mother as she stands over the grave of her young son to that of the Blessed Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mother Mather as she stood at the foot of the cross. We should consider this scene as an icon (image) of the “Suffering Mother” and come together in prayer and solidarity with the commitment of advocating for the end to such soulless termination of human life.
The Holy Synod of the Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide firmly defends the protection of human life in all forms and encourages the faithful universal in joining the effort by communicating their shared belief to their respective legislative representatives in overturning the miscalculated legislation termed “Stand Your Ground” practiced in Florida and approximately 18 other states. The appropriate question should be “How is the action of Mr. Zimmerman considered a “Constitutionally” protected right that exceeds the constitutional guarantee of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” that Trayvon Martin was summarily denied?
