The Holy Synod of the Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide (ŒCOCW) joins the community of faithful who view President Obama’s evolutionary process of recognizing same-sex marriage as a viable option, while politically dismantling the legislatively approved Defense of Marriage Age as an outrageous affront to strongly held religious beliefs.
The recent declarations publicizing President Obama’s social and moral evolution process and Vice President’s Job Biden’s Catholic “comfort” in advocating acceptance and support of a practice vigorously challenged by a significant number of Americas once again signals the Obama Administration’s lack of respect for the legislatively supported wishes of the stated wishes of many Americans. However, in light of the recent trampling of religious sensitivity contained in Administration’s Health Care Reform Bill and the Executive Order delivered to the U.S. Department of Justice withdrawing legal support of for the Defense of Marriage Act; the Administration’s current behavior is a blatant demonstration of the White House’s lack of respect for wishes of American and their religious communities across America.
Considering that President Obama and his Administration has once again demonstrated his intention to reject the legislatively supported and sanctioned wishes of the American people, it is only fitting that these Americans exercise their political voices this November along with their moral consciousness.
