Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide and The Anglican Church of Virginia Sign Agreement
On The Epiphany of Our Lord, January 6, 2010 at Evensong in Front Royal, Virginia, the †Most Rev. Larry W. Johnson, Archbishop of The Anglican Church of Virginia and Anglican Church International Communion, received His Eminence, †Catholicos Scholarios-Gennadius III, OSB, Protosyncellus, representing †Protohierarch Jorge Rodriguez-Villa, Ph.D., D.D. of the Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide.
Both church bodies are international in composition and are diverse culturally, ethnically and geographically, thereby encompassing a significant universal Christian congregation. The hierarchs of the respective churches discussed many relevant issues followed by celebration of the Holy Eucharist and a delightful dinner.
The discussions herein referenced highlighted many mutual beliefs, practices, traditions and focused on ways the two jurisdictions could work together for mutual benefit. The meetings culminated with the signing of a Declaration of Friendship and Communion, with agreement to enter into full communion between the two churches in the very near future. †His Eminence Larry and Lady Sondra proved to be traditional delightful Southern and Genteel hosts and †Catholicos Scholarios-Gennadius and Episcopa Lestine enjoyed the warm Southern comfort offered. †Archbishop Larry and †Catholicos Scholarios-Gennadius have scheduled a meeting to sign the documents bringing them into full communion shortly.
