Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide and The Anglican Church of Virginia Agree to Collaborate on New Seminary

Hierarchs of The Anglican Church of Virginia and the Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide agreed during a recent meeting at Evensong in Front Royal, Virginia on The Epiphany of Our Lord, January 6, 2010 to collaborate on the institution of a new seminary. The Anglican Church of Virginia currently operates the Anglican Seminary of Virginia and will collaborate with the Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide on the formation and institution of Saint Symeon the New Theologian Orthodox Seminary for the education and training of future and current clergy.

The two global jurisdictions were represented by †Most Rev. Larry W. Johnson, Archbishop of The Anglican Church of Virginia and †Catholicos Scholarios-Gennadius III, OSB, Protosyncellus, Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide and signed an official Declaration of Friendship and Communion between their respective jurisdictions. This will be a spiritually inspired and guided collaborative effort bringing together two firmly traditional and committed Christian jurisdictions together in fulfilling the “Great Commission” Matthew 28:20” and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

A future meeting to formalize this collaborative effort is scheduled for finalization in the very near future, and the formal opening of Saint Symeon the New Theologian Orthodox Seminary will be published.

Joyfully submitted,

†The Holy Synod of the Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide
