The Holy Synod of the Œcumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide (ŒCOCW) with deepest sympathy and outrage condemns the criminal bombing of churches in Nigeria on a most holy day.
The entire church communities of the ŒCOCW are outraged at the senseless and inhuman attack on Nigerian Christian communities on the day of one of the most holy celebrations. The ŒCOCW views such actions as demonstrations of cowardly behavior and a direct assault on international religious freedom.
+Scholarios-Gennadius III, OSB as Protohierarch of the ŒCOCW stated: “such actions are inexplicably cruel and unjustifiable and unbecoming of anyone who identifies him or herself as a patriot, hero, and defender of any religion. Such reprehensible actions are worthy of the most explicit denunciation by the entire community of believers, defenders of social justice and religious freedom.”
The Holy Synod of the ŒCOCW compels all religious leaders, communities and conscientious believers of all faiths to join it in condemning these acts of cowardliness and insensitivity.
