When it comes to your beauty pageant interview there is one thing that you need to impress the judges: confidence. You’ll no doubt be extremely nervous but it’s important to not let this show. It may sound like an impossible task but Models Direct modeling agency have given you some top tips on how to ooze confidence even if you don’t feel it!

•    Smiling helps make you look and feel more confident. Smiling can change your attitude without you even realizing it and the judges will be more drawn in by what you’re saying.

•    Be aware of how you position your body and how you move on stage or in the interview room. Sitting or standing with a straight back, squared shoulders and your head held high will definitely make you appear more confident to the judges and probably make you feel more confident yourself too.

•    Take lots of deep breaths!

•    You’ll feel far more confident if you know what you’re talking about in your interview. Models Direct suggest that you read newspapers and keep up with local and national news as well as running through possible questions with friends and family. As well as feeling more confident in yourself, you will impress the judges with your knowledgeable performance.

•    You may find it hard to get used to, but do make sure that you make eye contact with each of the judges.

•    If you’re unfortunate and asked a question that you are unsure of the answer to, simply say that you don’t know. The judges would much prefer you to be honest than hear a mumbling, uncertain answer.

•    Think about why you decided to take part in the pageant, maybe you want to be a famous model or are simply taking part because they’re fun. Whatever your reasons, think about the sense of achievement and accomplishment you will have when the competition is over.

•    When deciding on your interview outfit you should obviously look beautiful and glamorous, but Models Direct also advise that it is something comfortable and easy to move in. You will lose confidence if you don’t like the way you look in something or if it is uncomfortable to wear.

•    Channel your nervous energy away from your face and voice by clenching your fists or curling your toes.

•    It may sound silly but if you act like you’re the most confident woman in the room you’ll soon fool the audience into thinking that you are!
