Wouldn’t it be so much easier if all women were the same shape? No more worrying about what shape we are and no problems finding clothes to suit that shape. Easier, yes, but much less interesting – variety is the spice of life after all! Here, Models Direct want to make it a bit easier to find dresses to suit you, whatever your body shape.

Pear. Apparently the pear is the most common body shape in the UK, with a small, trim top half and heavier on the bottom. What’s key with this shape is to accentuate and even out your top and bottom half, making the most of your slender neck and arms while disguising your larger thighs and legs. Delicate strap tops, trapeze skirts and boots are all must-haves in your wardrobe.

Hourglass. Supposedly the most desirable body shape for a woman, but still a bit of a nightmare when it comes to dress shopping. You want to make the most of your curves and find something to flatter the areas you might be less confident about, such as arms and thighs. You can make the most of your curves by wearing fitted clothing, but not tight, rather than baggy dresses that will make you look frumpy and shapeless.

Draw attention to your small waist with a thin belt. Models Direct think that wraparound dresses are best suited for hourglass shapes, not only that they’re really easy to wear. Your waist will be shown off by the fastening of the dress and the V-neck shape is perfect for larger busts.

Apple. Apple-shaped women can often feel unconfident about their body and hide it under masses of fabric. Instead, learn how to dress to best flatter your features. If you’re feeling feminine, opt for flat fronted, knee-length skirts and dresses. Draw attention up and away from your waist with a V-neck top.

Boyish. Women with a straight up and down boyish body shape no doubt want to give the impression that they’re curvier. Find a bias-cut dress with a neckline that accentuates your bust. Go girly with light and flowing materials for tops, skirts and dresses and yourself in at the waist with a belt to give the illusion of curves.
