Every woman has an aspect of their body that they don’t like and this can vastly affect your confidence levels, not just what you wear. But rather than hiding your problem area under boring and unflattering clothes, why not learn how to dress them stylishly? Here are modelling agency Models Direct’s top tips.

Dressing a big bum
If you feel like you’re carrying too much weight on your bum, empire waist dresses could quickly become your new favourite items. The waistband is right under the bust and then flows outwards, flatteringly covering your problem area. The trick is to draw people’s eyes upwards with accessories such as interesting necklaces, scarves and earrings. Wearing a slash neck top will also help to even out proportions. In terms of trousers, Models Direct suggest wide-legged trousers that are either flared or boot-cut; this creates a smooth silhouette. You should definitely avoid tapered trousers.

Dressing skinny legs
Although you ladies with skinny legs are the envy of plenty of women you probably still have trouble finding clothes that suit you. You can pull off the skinny jeans and leggings trends perfectly, much to the jealousy of others! But when it comes to skirts and dresses, short hemlines will show off your legs but may make them seem skinnier, not to mention make you feel uncomfortable, so a fitted pencil skirt might suit your frame better. If you want to make your legs seem larger you could try wearing light colours or wear bold patterned tights, especially in horizontal stripes. Whatever you choose, avoid baggy clothes that will drown your small frame.

Dressing large arms
It’s common for women to feel insecure about their arms but there are ways to hide those wonderfully named ‘bingo wings’. Dresses or tops with half-length sleeves will obviously help to disguise larger arms, though may feel too tight and uncomfortable. Over the last few seasons, tops and dresses that are loose fitting around the shoulders and tops of the arms have become more fashionable. These help to disguise the area but keep your shape by fitting more tightly around the lower arm, waist and hips. Show off your shoulders with a boat neck neckline.

Dressing large thighs
Large thighs are another common insecurity for women, but it is easy to hide them. Maxi dresses are perfect for hiding this area as they can be fitted and delicate around your top half while flatteringly disguising your problem area. They also act as the perfect day-to-night dress for summer as they can be worn casually with sandals or dressed up with heels. If maxi dresses are just too floaty for you but you still want to wear skirts and dresses, Models Direct suggest that you try some leg-slimming tights or ‘magic knickers’ that will give the appearance of slimmer legs. With trousers opt for quite a wide leg, one that will go straight down from your hips creating a straight and streamline silhouette. Wearing dark colours on your lower body will also help.

When you’re feeling frumpy
We all have those ‘fat’ days but no one will be able to tell if you’re wearing an empire waist dress or top. The fitted waistband is just under the bust and so hangs down flatteringly keeping your tummy hidden.
