Baby modelling is a business worth millions! There is a seemingly endless array of baby products, toys and clothing that all need models to advertise them. We all think our children are the most beautiful in the world, but what’s the next step to take if they’re suitable for a modelling career? Modelling agency Models Direct offers some things to consider.

Is your baby a star? Every baby is gorgeous but there are particular attributes that modelling agencies will notice when selecting baby models. To become a model, your child or baby should be happy and smiley with bright eyes. Babies with a quirky look and character are also a popular choice.

A model personality. Baby models will often be working with other models, often adult models acting as parents. So they should be sociable and not mind being held by strangers. If your child is prone to temper tantrums maybe wait until they get a bit older and see if it’s still something you, and the child are interested in.

What type of assignments should I expect? Babies could be selected to be used in photographic or film adverts for any baby product, for example nappies or a new toy. They could also star in television programmes or films. Baby model twins at Models Direct featured in the BBC television programme Mistresses. The scope is huge, which is what makes it such big business!

Parent personality. Baby modelling is as much about you as it is your baby. You will need to be flexible as modelling assignments can crop up at the last minute and if you are selected and decide to accept, you may have to travel. Think about how far you’re willing to go (the further you can travel the more appealing you’ll be to an agency) and be realistic about how you would get to these places.

Remember, Just like any other area of modelling, baby modelling is very competitive and this is something you should be aware of. Be aware that no modelling agency can guarantee that your baby will get work.
