’ are everywhere, and due to the easily anonymous nature of the internet it’s a scam artist’s perfect place to start! Here are a few tips on what you should be wary of if you’re searching for a agency on the web.

Anyone can make their own website, and one of the major problems is that they could easily lie about who they are and their intentions. The direct goal of modelling ‘scams’ artists will be to take someone’s money without providing any service for them. It’s common for showcase agencies to set up a company website and then close after a few months’ ‘work’, taking hopeful ’ money and then starting up under a new name soon after.

Internet modelling ‘scammers’ can set themselves up as managers, without having any experience or ability to do so. Yet they still promise aspiring models a glittering career of fame and fortune. This could be done with the best intentions, and while some might be successful, many will ultimately be detrimental to a model’s career.

Modelling ’scammers’ are known to target teenage girls and young women, and will often create a website that appeals to this demographic. There are some things to look out for when assessing whether a ’s website is genuine and legitimate.

Many girls will want to live in the world of high . If you find a website that claims to deal with this sort of modelling, look at the models supposedly signed with them and be wary if they do not meet the model credentials. Likewise, if an agency says they deal with commercial modelling their models will be of all ages, sizes and sexes, not just teenage girls.

Be cautious of people who contact you through the internet claiming to be model managers or agents, even they say they’re from a well-known agency. Agencies worth being signed with don’t need to find their models on the internet.

Use common sense when using the internet to boost your modelling career and don’t let fake promises of fame cloud your vision. Don’t reveal too much personal information such as telephone numbers or addresses, and don’t let yourself be pressured into sending photographs to strangers. Although the internet can be a good means of self-marketing you will probably have more success if you approach directly.
