Members of the world’s first ever democratic have enjoyed great success on the racecourse with two wins from two starts since the ’s launch.

The Select Club is the first to give its members real involvement in every aspect of racehorse ownership, at a cost easily affordable for every enthusiast. At £59 a year it is cheaper than any other UK club.

Members, who select the horses, races and jockeys by voting online from a selection of viable options chosen by the Club’s trainer, have already proven that racing enthusiasts can be successful owners. They got the Club off to a flying start after picking the winning combination of race and jockey resulting in two wins from two races for the Club’s promising horse Rupestrian, trained by Tim Vaughan.

The democratic ’s first win came after members voted for Rupestrian to run at Stratford and chose top jockey Richard Johnson to ride him to a stylish victory in the first Juvenile Novices Hurdle of 2009 on May 31. Rupestrian strolled to his second victory in another Juvenile Novices Hurdle win at Hexham on June 6.

Snapped up for just £4,000 at the Doncaster sales by Tim Vaughan, recognised as one of the top trainers in Britain, Rupestrian is already proving to be a very shrewd buy for the Club and its members.

The Club’s concept, giving members maximum entertainment through maximum involvement, has so far proved fruitful. The is among the top 20 jumps owners this year with two wins from two and a total prize money of £9,420. For the initial outlay of just £59 for a year’s membership, our members have already won back £14 (nearly 24% of their membership fee) in prize money in a fortnight since the launch.

The Select-Racing-Club.co.uk website gives its members, over 40 in the first two weeks, access to in-depth training reports, weekly progress updates, videos and tips which aid them in making qualified decisions. For this purpose the Club also offers a racing forum with a weekly discussion with Tim Vaughan. And members will vote on which horse the Club takes on next once 750 people have joined up.

By giving members all the great benefits of racehorse ownership, including owners badges for entry to racecourses and monthly stable visits, at a very small price, the Club is hoping to attract a younger crowd of racing enthusiasts and bring new people into horseracing – something that the ‘ of Kings’ badly needs.
