Northbrook, IL ( ) October 03, 2009 – The law firm of Macey & Aleman/Legal Helpers recently donated $5,000 to aid in the ongoing mission of Prairie State Legal Services.

Prairie State Legal Services offers free legal services in northern and central Illinois for low-income persons and those over the age of 60 with serious civil legal problems and need legal help to solve these issues. The organization’s mission is “to provide or coordinate the delivery of high quality legal services to low-income individuals, families and groups.”

Throughout its history, Prairie State has focused on providing legal services to the most vulnerable groups in our society, the poor, the elderly, the physically and mentally disabled as well as other vulnerable people. Generally, Prairie State staff, attorneys (http://www.legalhelpers.com), paralegals and laymen, seek to be available for those legal matters that impact a household’s ability to meet its basic human needs for protection from violence and abuse, access to medical assistance, subsistence income or access to decent affordable housing.

Much of the funding for Prairie State comes from the federally funded Legal Services Corporation. Prairie State is also funded by the Lawyers Trust Fund of Illinois, local United Ways, Area Agencies on Aging, state, federal, and local funding sources, and private contributions.

Macey & Aleman/Legal Helpers is one of the largest consumer bankruptcy (http://www.legalhelpers.com) firms in the country. The firm, always striving to provide the highest level of client service, has earned a national reputation for excellence in the representation of debtors in financial distress.
