MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Quassy Amusement Park’s new “Wooden Warrior” roller coaster will get a high-tech welcome during a special event over Memorial Day weekend, Quassy officials announced today.
The “Rock ‘N Roll ‘R Coaster” laser light spectacular will awe crowds after dark on May 27 and 28 in the great lawn area of the lakeside property as part of the debut season of the marquee attraction.
“We are extremely delighted to announce the laser show as part of the inaugural season for our new ride,” said Quassy President Eric Anderson. “The production will also serve as a community service event as admission to the lawn area will be canned food donations.”
Quassy just completed negotiations for the show with Lasertainment Productions International, Inc., Blaine, Minn., being awarded the contract. Canned food donations will go to the Connecticut Food Bank.
The “Wooden Warrior,” designed by The Gravity Group of Cincinnati, Ohio, will serve as a backdrop in the show arena as the coaster’s framework rises above the lawn area.
Park officials are currently working with Lasertainment to produce the two-night show, which will feature full-color laser graphics as well as aerial beams – all choreographed to popular music. Presenting sponsors of the laser show are TDBank, Price Chopper, Silverleaf Resorts and Gibraltar Pools.
In 2003 Quassy produced its first laser show, “Magic In The Sky,” which was named “Best Promotion Of The Year” by the International Association of Amusement Park’s and Attractions (IAAPA). “Magic In The Sky” was presented at the park for four consecutive years.
“Rock ‘N Roll ‘R Coaster” will mark the return of the high-energy laser show to Quassy following a four-year hiatus.
