Chicago, IL- January 27, 2010 – On Thursday, March 4, 2010, The Keep On Keeping On Foundation (KOKO) will be hosting the first annual March Forth Awards Dinner to honor individuals who have overcome extreme adversity and serve as an inspiration to their peers. The event will take place at The White Eagle Banquet Hall, located at 6839 N. Milwaukee in Niles, IL. The event begins at 6 pm with a cash bar, dinner will be served at 7 pm and the event will commence with the award presentations, a raffle and silent auction.
Being honored are Mike Berkson, the inspiration behind The Keep On Keeping On Foundation, Rev. Leo T. Mahon, Pastor Emeritus of St. Mary of the Woods parish, and Paul Rusesabagina, the real-life hero portrayed by Don Cheadle in the Academy Award nominated film, Hotel Rwanda. Mr.Rusesabagina will also serve as the event’s keynote speaker.
On the event, Tim Wambach, Founder of KOKO explains, “The date March 4th has special meaning for us. It’s the only date that’s also a verb. By definition, ‘March Forth’ is the essence of the KOKO Organization. That no matter what happens in life, we keep pushing to realize tomorrow is a new day and a fresh start. In today’s tough times, we challenge you to view all of life’s obstacles as a motivator rather than a hindrance.”
Tickets are available for purchase at http://www.keeponkeepingon.org and must be reserved in advance. Individual seats are $50 or tables can be purchased for $500, which includes 10 tickets, plus program recognition. Individual and corporate sponsorships are also available. The Keep On Keeping On Foundation is a Chicago-based non-profit organization challenging individuals born with severe physical disabilities, such as Cerebral Palsy and Muscular Dystrophy to confront their obstacles head on and enable them to become more self-sufficient. The organization’s mission is to raise awareness, educate the community and inspire others to make a difference. The money raised from this event and others go toward a select group of local individuals to help offset the high costs of medical bills, life-sustaining equipment and technological advances to empowering these unique individuals to become more independent and handi-capable.
