Hungarian Musical Legend Comes to Guildford
The legendary Hungarian musician, Vilmos Gryllus is going to perform in Guildford for children and adults on the 6th March in the Royal Grammar School. The founder member of the group Kaláka is well-known as the composor of several songs for children and is going to sing about a fancy costume ball at 11.00 am. The Hungarian Cultural Group is pleased to invite you to the concerts. “We have won some grants last year such as the Big Lottery Fund and the Grassroots Grants. Thanks to these successful applications we have had the chance to organise three great special events this year.” – explained Mária Chambers, Chair of the HCG.
“Maszkabál (costume ball) is a fancy dress party with a difference. The “musical costumes” of legendary musician and songwriter Vilmos Gryllus conjure up a world of traditional Hungarian carnival characters – magicians, clowns, chimney sweeps, cats and even a seven-headed dragon! Children will love these songs, getting involved and dressing up. Children (and their parents!) are invited to come along in their own fancy dress. It will be fun for all ages.” – summarized Mária.
The multi-talented singer, songwriter and instrumentalist also performs folksongs and original compositions inspired by the verses of some of Hungary’s most famous poets. The adult concert called „Songs inspired by poems” is going to start at 8.00 pm.and is situated in the same place as the children concert.
