Heartbeat of America: A History of ProgressFor America’s Business Entrepreneurs

November 11, 2009 | Author: | Posted in Television

Prior to September 11, 2001, all of us at Heartbeat of America were involved in producing a program for public companies that included a thirty minute TV show and three marketing videos in the format of a news interview program.  The companies who participated wanted credibility and we gave them , an Admiral and famous news anchors who hosted and conducted our news interviews with selected companies.

The show was aired one time nationally.  However, the biggest benefit to the profiled company was the three ten minute marketing videos that were extracted from the show and targeted to their prospective clients.  There were no commercials to fund this kind of program and so the companies paid for the benefits they received.  These companies, many in the technology field, paid an up-front fee of $50,000, plus a percentage of their public stock, that ultimately paid us upwards of $100,000 per show.  One company, a national medical organization in the wellness field, paid Heartbeat of America one million dollars for this program.

After September 11, 2001, we saw the bad times ahead for our country and decided to help the entrepreneurs of America.   They, more than anyone, needed the help, attention and credibility that our program provided.

The problem was that the entrepreneurs we wanted to help, the ones who have the courage and vision to develop good things for America, did not have the six and seven figures we previously received for each program.
So we decided to turn our show into a patriotic project, waiving all the big dollars it would normally cost.  The only contribution the entrepreneur would make would be to cover the out of pocket relatively small dollars for the production of the actual videos delivered to the selected companies and not the big costs for the giant benefits from the association with an icon celebrity involved in this project.

In the years since, some one thousand entrepreneurs, including Nobel Prize winners, city mayors, non-profit organizations, environmentalists, scientists, physicians, consultants, technology gurus, manufacturers and start-up organizations of every kind have come aboard to do our program.  We have received, through the years, countless letters thanking us for the good we have done for their organizations and for our country and that has been our reward that we treasure to this day.
