The fourth edition of the Gulf Film Festival, held recently in Dubai, 2011, has joined hands for a two-year partnership with renowned Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen as the festival’s ‘Special Partner.’
At the closing ceremony of the Festival, IWC Schaffhausen presented the three Lifetime Achievement honourees at GFF2011 – Emirati actress Mariam Sultan, Saudi director/producer Mohammad F. Gazzaz, and Kuwaiti producer/director Mohammad Al-Sanousi – with specially crafted watches.
With an illustrious legacy of over 140 years in watch making, IWC Schaffhausen also presented one of its exquisite creations to renowned director Abbas Kiarostami, who is leading his first-ever master-class in the UAE as part of the Gulf Film Festival. A retrospective of the Iranian director.
Further marking the partnership, the filmmaker’s lounge at Gulf Film Festival was branded ‘IWC Filmmaker’s Lounge’ at GFF 2011, as well as during the fifth edition in GFF2012.
Speaking on the occasion Ms. Mahsa Motamedi, Director of Marketing & Sponsorship, Gulf Film Festival, said: “We are pleased to extend our partnership with IWC Schaffhausen – one of our key partners at the Dubai International Film Festival – through two editions of the Gulf Film Festival. The partnership highlights the strong brand associations fostered by the festivals with leading organisations from around the world.”
Mr. Maxime Ferte, IWC Regional Director said: “We are honored to enlarge our partnership to GFF, perfect complement to our continuous support to Arts and Culture. Since last year, IWC is already a strong partner of the Dubai International Film Festival., he added.
IWC Schaffhausen is celebrating the Portofino family in 2011, epitome of a classical wristwatch for individuals with style.
Small wonder, then, that many prominent friends of the brand such as Zinedine Zidane, Cate Blanchett , Kevin Spacey, Elle Macpherson and Eric Dane were delighted to receive an invitation from IWC Schaffhausen and the legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh to a shoot in Portofino in summer 2010.
The results of this extraordinary get-together, in which Lindbergh used his famous subjects to resurrect the spirit of the sixties, will be seen in Dubai during DIFF 2011.
