Tuesday 19th January 2010 – Bookmakers Boylesports have installed Florence + The Machine as favourite in both the Best Female (5/4) and British Breakthrough Act (6/5) after the Brit Award nominations were announced yesterday evening. Females are expected to triumph at the awards, with X Factor judge Cheryl Cole 11/8 favourite to win Best Single for ‘Fight For This Love’ while Lily Allen, La Roux and Pixie Lott are also tipped for awards.
Florence + The Machine are also 8/5 second-favourites to win the Best Album category for their release ‘Lungs’ behind Kasabian’s ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’, at 5/4. Lady Gaga is 1/2 to be named Best International Female.
“It’s great to see that the girls are expected to do so well in this year’s awards,” says Nicola McGeady, Boylesports Entertainment Spokesperson. “The singles and album charts have been dominated by some very talented women over the past year and it’s great to see their success is getting recognition.”
