Gapyear Trackers is a specialist GPS Tracker company who only provide gps trackers for gap year and backpacker travellers.

Gapyear Trackers was formed last year after its parent company Trackershop-UK was contacted by numerous parents and grandparents of young travellers who were predominantly travelling for the first time without their parents. They had seen news items about missing young travellers and wanted peace of mind that should their young traveller go missing or become detached from their group, they have the ability to ascertain their location .

The new Bronze Track GPS Tracker has been launched by Gapyear Trackers. Sean Byron of Gapyear Trackers at the launch on Monday the 8th of March 2010 said ‘ Last summer our parent company Trackershop-UK was getting a lot of enquiries from relatives of young people who were embarking on their gap year, many were travelling for the first time without their parents and coupled with several news stories of missing travellers, parents and grandparents wanted peace of mind that they could track the location of their loved one should they go missing or not contact home, without being intrusive.

We selected a small range of trackers that we believed were the best available for young travellers. Our newest tracker is the Bronze Track which is a small discreet device that can be carried in a pocket or worn around the neck of a traveller. If a relative wants to know its location they simply phone the tracker which then text’s back its location anywhere in the world where there is mobile phone signal. The device can be phoned and used like a mobile phone, also the tracker has an SOS button that when pressed by the wearer sends a help message and location to up to 3 pre-determined mobile phones.’
