Free Artwork Project Returns for the Edinburgh Art Festival 2010

A series of site specific Art searches engaging audience, art and space. Curated by Heather Tweed
A serendipitous Art project will enable anyone lucky enough to find a hidden piece of Artwork in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh Art Festival, to report their find and keep the piece.
Twenty-eight small artworks secreted at psychogeographically selected sites across Edinburgh City centre within walking distance of The Heart Of Midlothian will be available for anyone to find and keep.
Eight specially selected Artists from a National call have contributed to the project, Lost Not Found:Abscission which is currently self funded by Artist and curator, Heather Tweed.
Three of the Artworks are created using real gold leaf and although the Artists are all aware that their work may go astray they are all keen for residents and visitors to the City to be on the lookout for the special packages that bear the legend ‘FOUND. Congratulations you have discovered a piece of artwork’.
Finders are then requested to follow the instructions on the packaging to participate in the project and keep the artwork.
As each Artwork is found and reported, it will be documented and details of location added to an online map and social networking sites will be utilised to spread the word.
The project started informally in Edinburgh during the Fringe last year and continues to develop in slightly differing forms, including a version at Figment in New York during June this year.
Artworks include sculpture, photography and real gold leaf collage.
There are no clues to the whereabouts of the Artworks, this is a game of luck, chance and good fortune.
