Dallas Firetrol Protection Systems upgraded Jack County Jail's to a new state of the art IP megapixel camera system consisting of 78 cameras, network video recorders, & completely upgraded their video monitoring control room with new large flat panel LCD monitors.
Dallas, TX, September 26, 2011 – The Jack County Jail, located in North Texas, had an older CCTV camera system with digital video recorders that was barely working properly. Their video surveillance system was installed when the jail was built 8 years ago. Video surveillance technology has moved forward at a break-neck speed since then and they needed a newer system with better video resolution to protect both the jail employees and inmates.
Danny Nail, Sheriff of Jack County Jail, commissioned the Dallas branch of Firetrol Protection Systems to upgrade their video surveillance system from top to bottom. The upgrades included adding 14 additional cameras to the facility, 3 hybrid network video recorders, and complete physical overhaul of their video control room where the jail dispatcher monitors all activity at the jail, including 2 way audio communications. Firetrol removed the older, TV type video monitors and installed 4 large, flat panel monitors to view all of their 78 cameras. The hybrid network video recorders that Firetrol installed allowed the jail to keep most of the existing analog CCTV cameras that had acceptable pictures, while upgrading the ones displaying unacceptable resolution. Among the cameras that were installed were 2 Mobotix 360 degree, 2 megapixel omni-directional IP cameras that allow the dispatcher to see the entire room with one camera, with no dead spots. The video is stunningly clear and the new system is extremely user friendly to operate. Firetrol also connected the new video surveillance system to the jail's computer network where authorized users can view any cameras or recorded video, password protected.
The Jack County Jail now has one of the most modern and technologically advanced video surveillance systems within the Texas County Jail system. The system will allow for easy and affordable expansion of additional cameras in the future should they want to expand their system. Ron Walthall, Security Design and Sales division at the Dallas Firetrol office stated that many of the states jails are still using older Digital Video Recorder's (DVR) video recording technology and as those older recorders die off, they should be replacing them with the newer Network Video Recorders and megapixel cameras which will give the end user much higher video resolution.
