Filmmakers touch the untouched areas at UFO 0110 Int. Digital Film Fest

126 short and feature-length films from 55 counties will be screened during the fest

New Delhi, February 22, 2012: Seven days, 126 films and 55 countries define this year’s UFO 0110 International Digital Film Festival. The film festival, scheduled from March 9 to 15 will showcase the rich diversity of digital filmmaking flourishing across the globe.

 

The Festival’s seven day program includes 126 film screening selected out of 600 entries. The films, chosen for screening, cover a wide range of genres from sensitive issues like male nudity, mother-daughter relationship to violence and war. The films addressing the contemporary issues of women will also make the presence at the fest.

 

“The UFO 0110 International Digital Film Festival is a platform for independent filmmakers and their innovative approach towards new cinema. We have received registration from all across the globe in huge number. Lots of new talent will be showcased. It will be venue where quality films, seminars and workshops can be expected here,” said Madhureeta Anand, Festival Director, UFO 0110 IDFF and Film Director & Founder of Ekaa Films Pvt. Ltd.

 

“This year’s entries are very innovative, touching and sensitive. Participants have tried to touch upon many untouched areas. From a war situation, to police brutality. From heart wrenching mother-daughter relationship to male nudity.”

 

“Budding filmmakers have also shown interest to touch upon life of Tibetan people. We also have received some amazing films from UK on deaf community. Another attraction in the documentary section is the film on Malegaon.  It is not in competition section but it is suprising to see how untrained people like carpenter; electricians have made a documentary that talks about their own Malegaon’s film industry,” she added.

 

Apart from India, films from Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic,  England, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungry, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel,  Italy, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, South Africa, Turkey, Uganda, UK, UAE, USA and Venezuela are participating in the fest.

 

These films will compete for six award categories; Best Feature Film (Above 60 minutes), Best Short Film (Below 60 minutes), Best Documentary Film, Best Special Effects/ Animation, Best Student Film, and Digital Art/ Installation.

 

Apart from film screening, there will be film making competitions such as ‘Film in 6 days’ and ‘Mobile film’.

About Madhureeta Anand

 

Madhureeta Anand is an independent and award winning filmmaker since 1995. She shifted her field of work from mainstream television production to documentary filmmaking. She has directed and produced many documentary films and series. Most of her work explored the areas of culture, religion and anthropology. Her other films looked at the issues of education in India and child abuse. Many of her films have been telecast on international channels like BBC, Channel 4, Discovery and National Geographic. Her first commercial feature film Mere KhwabonMein Jo Aaye released in February 2009.
