EU Ministers Visit Cyprus EU Presidency Facilities
The members of the Ministerial Committee on European Presidency issues visited Monday the site of the Cyprus EU presidency Conference Centre and Press Centre, in Nicosia. Both facilities, which are interlinked, will be used to host meetings and facilitate Press coverage for Cyprus-based events during the second half of 2012.
Present during the visit were Minister of Foreign Affairs Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, Minister of Finance Kikis Kazamias, Minister of Communications and Works Efthymios Flourentzou, Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou and Deputy Minister for European Affairs Andreas Mavroyiannis. Press and Information Office Director Eleonora Gavrielides accompanied the Ministers.
In statements after the visit, Flourentzou noted that the site is due to be delivered on February 8. He also noted that the project, with a cost of 20.4 mln euros, is currently in the last phase of its development and added that the first conferences will take place next April.
The Minister said he was content with the progress of works and expressed his satisfaction with the work done by the Public Works Department and the construction company, noting that the latter has kept all deadlines.CNA
