Michael Woodrum is a producer, songwriter, engineer and admitted freak, that rare Pro Tools whiz who also has an encyclopedic knowledge of analog gear – microphones, compressors, limiters, delays, reverbs, recording desks, 24-track recorders and anything else he can scrounge up in the shop. He smoothly transitioned from 20th to 21st century music technology and remains deeply passionate about both. And, this technical prowess is especially valuable because, as a producer and songwriter, he’s been on both sides of the glass. Michael puts his clients at ease, speaking their language, understanding what it takes to make a song come alive and thrilled to put songs, sounds and performances together to create magic.

His appreciation for music started as a toddler when he fell in love with the radio and called his toy guitar his “yeahyeah,” from the Beatles’ song “She Loves You.” At age seven, Michael picked up a real guitar and never put it down. He borrowed his mother’s collection of Johnny Rivers, The Mamas and Papas and of course, the Beatles. In his teen years, he searched for (and found) heavier music – Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd. This wide exposure sealed his love for music in general, but especially for rock and roll.

Michael studied music, played in bands and became a proficient guitar player. He bought his first four-track recorder and started recording his band’s rehearsals. Soon thereafter, he was recording and producing other bands too. Hell-bent on becoming a rock star, Michael left his rock band and home in Las Vegas and moved to Los Angeles to live in a house with a bunch of musicians. He constructed a recording studio in the garage and soon had his hands full recording the roommates.

He graduated from Los Angeles Recording Workshop at the top of his class and immediately went to work at the crossroads of creativity – L.A.’s legendary Village Recorder, recording home to The Stones, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac and many, many more.

Twenty years later in his own studio, Michael Woodrum’s client list includes rock, pop and hip hop royalty such as Eric Clapton, Joe Cocker, Snoop Dog, Backstreet Boys, Joss Stone, Lamont Dozier – as well as exciting indie artists such as Kat Parsons, P. Hux, Gregory Darling and BC Jean (who is now signed with Clive Davis and co-wrote the Beyonce hit “If I Were A Boy).

“I love working with up and coming artists. Their drive and passion for their art is contagious. I constantly feel like I’m 15 years old again, listening to music through headphones, lying on my bed in Vegas.”

He is currently working with Michelle Carter-Leis / Realize Records (poppy, in the vein of Colbie Caillat) Checkpoint Charlie / Indy (rock, in the vein of Incubus) M. Richard Monda aka Daddy Dew Drop / Indy (big hit in the 70’s w/ Chicka Boom, Songwriter for many artist such as Dean Martin, Ringo Starr, Kenny Rogers and others, currently working on a new record) Uptown Hero / Indy (pop/punk band, in the vein of Blink 182 / McFly) Amiena A / Indy (Adult contemporary, jazzy, funky). visit: www.michaelwoodrumproductions.com
