Ecumenical Canonical Orthodox Church Worldwide Mourns Episcopal Church Decision

July 20, 2009 | Author: | Posted in Religion

The Ecumenical Canonical Worldwide (ECOCW) mourns decision of its sister, the Church on its decision to lift ban of the ordination and consecration of Gay priests and bishops. The ECOCW expresses its support for those Churches that are laboring under the burden of divorcing themselves from their Mother Church in response to the conflict arising from this collision of traditional biblical and traditions. Further, as a traditional worldwide jurisdiction, the ECOCW recognizes the right of these churches to participate in respectful and faithful dissent in respect to this most controversial decision. The ECOCW hereby expresses understanding and respect to our brothers and sisters who embrace this expression of human life, while holding fast to the traditional biblical principles as taught by Holy Mother Church in unbroken succession through the centuries. Moreover, the ECOCW mourns the irreparable damage this decision will cause between the Worldwide Communion and her relationships with the wider Christian community. We can only say “Lord, hear our prayer!”

To this, we humbly set our hand and seals,
