Veteran Traveller’s Insight Of A “Can-Do” Attitude

August 27, 2009 | Author: | Posted in Travel

(MMD Newswire) August 27, 2009 — We’ve got to face it.. There are men and women with power or not, from all walks of life who by principle and logic or simply by plain scheme to drive you crazy, would not and cannot take a “NO” for an answer.

To deliver quality Customer service, only a positive, willing to help, confident, go-getter who would not take a “NO” himself would be able to address difficult situations as narrated to this writer.

My flight from Muscat was delayed and connecting flight to London will be in 40 minutes. Prompted by an advise from London Etihad counter, Mr. J. Edwards, Austral-Asia Director for NordsVolks Holdings Pty Ltd had planned to request for upgrade by miles upon arrival in Abu dhabi. “The seeming shortage of time created great stress and pressure but I tried my luck anyway at the airline’s transfer counter”.

According to Mr. Edwards, he argued from one person at the counter to another -”the shortness of time of my request is not my fault, neither my delayed arrival in Abu Dhabi”. “Total of three people refused to help me ( I got their names for contingency)”. Feeling all prepared to be ballistic, “I approached this fourth person named Ms. Dina Andhrada, who listened to me with a comforting smile and actually did something without outright negativity unlike the previous ones I have sought help”. “I watched her talked to someone on the phone and talked to two of her co- workers”. While on the phone, she was graciously explaining to me that upgrade by miles is really easy if time is sufficient but that she was doing her best with the half an hour she has before my boarding time.

“What I have observed was a first hand demonstration of a “Can-Do attitude” I have always talked about to my own employees. All my disgust and annoyance were just washed away watching somebody working out something for me.”

“I was so elated when she put her thumb up to me”. “Done Jonathan”, she said. What a winner. Imagine having been refused three times and still had it done. What an impact the attitude had on me. The Can-do attitude displayed actually saved me the trouble of lodging a complaint or demanding to see the supervisor on duty with its accompanying tension which was what I have at the back of my mind once I get refused one more time.

As I handed her my calling card and tried to headhunt her for a lucrative job offer in UK , United States or Geneva ( my way of thanking her ), she instead gave me my business class boarding card and guess what.. .for a reward, she said, I have to promise her that I will fly with “her airline” again and from now on, “or else”. Can’t help but burst in laughter & gave her my promise to set aside my 400,000 mileage with another airline and patronize her airline as my reward to her for the fact that : I had a good laugh from her effectively unique sales talk and I lost my anger. Along with this, flight center received our office memo to preferably book all our company travels with this lady’s airline- Etihad. Your remarkably impressive personnel should know, her “or else” worked, and I kept my promise. Instead for an opportunity to demand self gain, I witnessed an indispensable “Can-Do” work loyalty attitude, a valuable secret behind the success of any organization.

Canadian Spa Directory Launched

August 26, 2009 | Author: | Posted in Travel

Canada (MMD Newswire) August 26, 2009 — With close to 3,000 spas across the country, the Canadian spa experience is as interesting and appealing as the beautiful and varied landscape that stretches coast to coast from British Columbia to Newfoundland.

As Canada’s national spa organization, Leading Spas of Canada has produced a beautiful, full-colour printed directory boasting colourful photographs, detailed descriptions of spa treatments and experiences, alongside listings of their proud spa members. The printed directory has been a huge success, with spa-goers requesting 125,000 copies through various channels including the Leading Spas of Canada website, member spas, Air Canada lounges and through distribution with EnRoute, Air Canada’s inflight magazine during the month of March.

With the increasing desire to improve sustainability and reduce one’s environmental footprint, Leading Spas of Canada has now made their popular directory available online. “The spa industry is embracing the trend to become more ‘green’ in everything we do. Offering our directory online is a wonderful opportunity for our association to be more environmentally conscious while still providing the exquisite photography which showcases our spas so beautifully. Now being published online also, it allows more people from all over the world to explore and appreciate the uniqueness of the Canadian spa experience”, notes Leading Spas of Canada CEO, Wanda Love.

Of particular interest in the directory are the various ‘signature services’ offered by spas, with many of them featuring ingredients indigenous to the area; treatments using locally-harvested seaweed, body wraps with wild rosehip oil from Alberta’s provincial flower, blackberry vinotherapy massage, Aboriginal healing traditions are incorporated into treatments in Manitoba, Maple Sugar body scrubs, Muskoka cranberry soaks and vinotherapy in Ontario, apple blossom facials in the Annapolis Valley and even an ice-berg dip at a spa in Newfoundland.

Explore the pages of the Leading Spas of Canada at http://www.leadingspasofcanada.com/web/directory and discover the extraordinary experiences the Canadian spa industry has to offer.
