Dales Holiday Cottage, Chantry, Opens to Holidaymakers in the Yorkshire Dales National Park

Journalist visit days are now available from 2nd – 6th July at the Dales Holiday Cottage, Chantry, West Witton, Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire, 1st July 2012 (Your-Story.org) Journalists and travel writers are being invited to experience country comfort in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National park with a series of high-season press-only days at the newly opened Dales Holiday Cottage, Chantry, West Witton, Wensleydale, North Yorkshire.

Located on a high plateau on Pen Hill above the village of West Witton, the Dales Holiday Cottage at Chantry boasts a walled garden, pet-friendly accommodation and country touches such as a Welsh dresser and Belfast sink. Two double bedrooms provide ample comfort for couples and walkers.

The cottage is a converted coach house annexed to the pre-reformation era main house. “Chantry” used to house Cistercian monks and served as a outpost for Jervaulx Abbey. A tunnel below the main house is thought to have once led to the Fox & Hounds pub in the village below, linking a nunnery to the monks’ establishment.

A private road, private woodland and nearby farm mean that guests at the Dales Holiday Cottage, Chantry, West Witton can get away from main roads without going further than 4.5 miles from the bustling market town of Leyburn, which hosts a delicatessen and extensive wine selection at Campbell’s, walking boots & outdoor clothing at The Walking Shop as well as shooting & fishing equipment at Gilson Sports.
