$200,000 in college cash available from CollegeInvest

The deadline to apply for one of 65 higher education scholarships from CollegeInvest, a not-for-profit division of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, is just weeks away. CollegeInvest has $200,000 available for Colorado students but the deadline to apply is April 1.

CollegeInvest is offering 27 Service Scholarships that provide $6,000 to students over two years. CollegeInvest will also award 38 $1,000 Opportunity Scholarships.

“Scholarships bring the reality of a college education one step closer for students,” said Janet Gullickson, chief outreach and client relations officer at CollegeInvest. “We’ve made it easy to apply with a simple online form.”

Students can learn how to apply by going to collegeinvest.org/scholarships. Both scholarships are based on financial need, so students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA to receive a scholarship.

The Service Scholarship also requires that students spend 40 hours volunteering at a children-centered program annually for two years. There are no grade or essay requirements, making applying quick and easy.

“Applications only take a few minutes and students can potentially receive thousands of dollars as a result,” said Gullickson.
